Biography

William was born in 1801. He died in 1873. [1]

William Pennington married Mary A. Waldrop on 2 Jul 1855 in Coweta Co., GA, with Abram Young, JP, officiating. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=hwrdwl&id=I7259

At present, the names of William's parents are not known. He was born between 1801-1803, but there is currently confusion as to whether it was Mecklenburg County, Virginia or somewhere in North Carolina (different census years give VA or NC). He married three times; first to Mary Elizabeth "Eliza" Coggin and had seven children, second to Mrs. Louisa J. [Webster] Byram and had no children and third to Mrs. Mary Ann Margaret [Dodds] Waldrop and had two children. He is buried at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Senoia, Coweta County, Georgia.

Research Notes

William's date and place of birth is confusing in the censuses and funeral records WH 1850 47 (census before birthday = 1802) - VA WH 1860 55 (no date calcs fit the data = birth date mistake by family) - NC WH 1870 68 (census after birthday = 1802) - VA HA 1880 (Parent Notes) - SC [mistake by later family] Father - S Car Mother - Ga [Neither of these is correct] Confused information after WH's death. Grave says abt 1801, but 2 censuses point to 1802-3 as more likely and all seem to rule out 1801 as a possibility

Pennington-6833 and Pennington-3297 are not ready to be merged because: The date and place of death match exactly but it is not clear that the person who had the parents attached to Pennington-6833 is the same as the person who died on 13 May 1873 in Coweta, GA.

Pennington-5136 and Pennington-3297 appear to represent the same person because: they share a similar birth year, the same spouse, Mary Ann Dodd, and the exact same marriage year.
