Hi I have a family tree on Alexander Pentland, who was born in 1513. It shows he had 3 sons-Diones, John and Henry. The tree was created in 1948 by a George Pentland.
That son Henry is the only "Henry" in that time period shown in the tree. He would have been born sometime after 1540 as that is when Alexander Married Elizabeth Wilson. The tree shows nothing about Henry other than his name. Obviously, there must have been another?
Alexander had a grandson named Alexander but the tree does not show that he was married or had kids? It also shows he died in 1593.
Alexander, who was born in 1513 was married to Elizabeth Wilson in 1540. His grandson, Alexander, was the son of John & his wife, Agnes Arthur. The tree is showing Grandson Alexander's birth at 1566.
Both Alexanders were Sheriff's of Midlothian County. Could this Henry have been born before 1600? Or maybe the tree shows an incorrect death date on the younger Alexander? Thanks, Ron
The earliest baptisms recorded in the Inveresk parish registers are in 1607 so I would be interested to learn the source of this information. The earliest Henry Pentland I have identified was the son of Alexander but he died in 1597.
