Jacob Ernst Pentz was born on March 31, 1778 in Chester, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, son of Conrad Pentz (abt. 1741–1801) and Elizabeth Preper (1753–1827).

Jacob (38) married Anna Maria Sophia Corkum (22) (born April 11, 1794 in Chester; daughter of Mr. George Henry Corkum (1749–abt. 1836) and Elizabeth Collicutt (1761– )) on January 16, 1817 in St Stephen Anglican Church, Chester.

Jacob married Anne Corkum 16 Jan 1817 in Chester, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.[3][4][5] He had signed a Marriage Bond on the day of the marriage, co-signed by John Pence. [6]
