John was born in 1830. He passed away in 1909. He joined the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Police and retired as the Superintendent of the line living in Euston after having lived in Wolverton Bucks.
This line of the Percy family can be traced back through the English surname Fancy to a Spaniard called Da Fancia. After the Spanish Armada in 1588 a Spanish galleon was wrecked in a storm and plundered by locals from Portland Dorset when it was washed ashore at Portland Bill. They saved the crew who were still alive, one of them being a Spaniard called Da Fancia who later married a local girl.
