Henry Francis Perdue (1842-1929)

Born Chinguacousy, Peel County. (10 May 1842)[1]

1851 Census, Chinuacousy, Peel, Canada West: "Henry Perdew" (40). Also, wife, Nuice[?] (42); Mary Ann (12); Henry A (10); Thomas (87); Robert (51); Wiiliam (3)

1861 Census, Chinguacousy Twp, Peel, Canada West: Henry Perdue, Farmer, (48); Unice Do (49); Mary Do (20); Henry Do (19); Thomas Do (18); Robert Do (14); William Do (12). All were C of E; Henry (senior) born Ireland, remainder in Upper Canada. House was 1 story log

At some point before Oct 1870 he went to Victoria County to set up a residence (farm?). He became settled enough to make a trip home to get married.

At age 19, on 12 Oct 1870, Chinguacousy, he married MARTH JANE GRAY (1845-1919), daughter of George Gray & Margaret Hearn; both were C of E. Henry gave his residence at the time as Somerville Co, Victoira.[2] Registered 1870, Peel, Ontario.[3]

1871 Census, Somerville, Victoria North, Ontario: Henry Francis Perdue (29), CofE, Irish. Wife, Martha Jane Perdue (24). Married outside of district.

Moved to Fenlon Township, Victoria County in August 1871, lot 29, concession 7, dubbed "Crohan Farm". Also reference to travelling there by wagon.

In his daughter, Eunice, birth record (29 Jul 1874), Henry Francis is listed as a "Yeoman", living Lot W 3/4 24 in the 4 con, Somerville.

On Somerville council for 17 years. (from PAMA finding aid)

Stella E Perdue (13), daughter, Canadian origin, born Sep 1898 Ontario, Anglican, 10 months at school, can read & write. [Stella were the daughter of Martha, but step-daughter to Henry; born as Watson. Her sister Francis was with her mother Ada, who had remarried to Christopher Burtchaell.]
