Zachariah Uriah Perdue was born about 1765 in Virginia. He is the only known member of this family to use the name Uriah. He spent much of his life on the Virginia frontier, generally in the vicinity of the New River. Uriah lived to a ripe old age with several of his sons living on adjacent land.

Zachariah married Mary Connelly on 5 June 1792 in Montgomery County, Virginia, United States.[1][2]

In the 1810 census, Zacharias was enumerated as head of household in Giles County, Virginia, United States.[3]

Zachariah served in the military in the War of 1812; he held the rank of Private in the 43rd Regiment of the Virginia Militia.[4][5]

In the 1820 census, Zachariah was enumerated as head of household at the Giles Court House, Giles, Virginia, United States.[6]

In the 1850 census, Uriah (age 84), was enumerated in Giles County, Virginia, United States. His youngest son, Fergus, lived with his family next door. Uriah owned real estate valued at $350.[7]

Research Notes

Potential will of Zachariah Uriah Perdue found in unindexed will book on FamilySearch: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9P6-SHWH This will only names sons John and Conley.

Regarding another Zachariah Perdue:
He is easily and often confused with his nephew Zachariah Perdue (1780-1880), son of Meshack Perdue (1756-1837), his brother. Please be careful when assigning children or sources! An important difference is that Zechariah Uriah was located in Montgomery and Giles Counties, Virginia, as opposed his nephew Zachariah who was in Franklin County, Tazewell County, and ultimately mostly in Mercer County, (West) Virginia.
