Biography

After Eliza her married her sister Jane Beebe

(Geneseo, NY, Livingston Republican, December 29, 1904) edited Last Sunday afternoon John H. Perkins died at his home on the Genesee flats just west of the Cuylerville bridge at the extreme age of 100 years, four months and seventeen days.

His boyhood was spent in his native state and in 1815 he came to the Genesee Valley with his father's family. In early life he was married to Miss Eliza Beebe, a resident of this county, and to them were born several children, three of whom still live.

The funeral was held at the house. Burial at Moscow cemetery.

-- John first married Eliza Beebe. After her death, he married her sister Jane Beebe. They were daughter of Hopestell Beebe.

On the occasion of his 100th birthday, his surviving family was: Miles Perkins, aged 73; Frank Perkins, aged 68; Artilisa Cole of Ada Michigan, aged 66; Alice Perkins, aged 52; Mrs. Frances Woodruff of Lakeville, aged 50; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

John was the last survivor of his father's family of nine children. Elisha is buried at Geneseo; Potter at Moscow; Harriet, wife of Dr. Chester Dewey, at Geneseo; Daniel at Ada, Michigan; Betsie A. Fletcher at Decatur, Mich.; Eunice Fowler at Fowlerville, Mich.; Lucy Hill at Tyrone, Steuben County, N.Y.; George at or near Cleveland, Ohio; and father and mother buried at Temple Hill at Geneseo.

A son, Warren Perkins, died at Andersonville prison. Another son, Steven Perkins died from the kick of a cow around 1860.


John and Eliza had the following children: Miles, Jane, franklin, Artillisa, George Washington, Joseph Warren, and Stephen.

John and Jane had the following children: John, Mailen, Caroline, Alice, and Frances.
