William Perkins was born March 4, 1896 in Fayette County, Illinois. He was the oldest child and first son of George Perkins and Carolina Gödel.[1][2][3]
William registered for the WWI draft in Fayette County, Illinois[2]. He enlisted in the US Army on June 24, 1918 and served in the Headquarters and Supply unit of the 13th Battery, Field Artillery. William was discharged on December 17, 1918.[4]
William married Mary Elizabeth Smith on November 11, 1924 in Marion County, Illinois.[5] William and Mary had 13 children.[6][7] William and Mary had 10 children.

William passed away on May 18, 1959 about 5 miles north of Odin, Marion County, Illinois when he was kicked in the chest by a horse.[1][4][13][6] William was buried in Fredonia Cemetery located in Odin, Marion County, Illinois,[3]
