Biography

James was born in 1838. He was the son of Hiram Perkins and Elizabeth King. He passed away in 1913.[1] In the 1850 US Census, James was 12 and living with his family in Saratoga, Saratoga County, New York[2].

Marriage and Children

James M. Perkins and Elizabeth Cloud were married 29 Aug 1857 in Tippecanoe County, Illinois[3].

James and Elizabeth had 5 children of which 2 died as infants:

  1. Sarah Ann Perkins (1859-1859)
  2. Laura Jane Perkins (abt.1860-1860)
  3. Mary E. (Perkins) Zink (abt.1864-bef.1913) m. William Anthony Zink.
  4. Jennie Josephine (Perkins) Douglas (abt.1867-1924), m. Charles J. Douglas.
  5. Charles H. Perkins (1870-1936) m. Iona Toomey.

In the 1870 US Census, James, Elizabeth and their three young children were living in Burnettsville, White County, Indiana[5]: James M Perkins Male 32 New York; Elizabeth Perkins Female 32 Ohio; Mary E Perkins Female 6 Indiana; June J Perkins Female 3 Indiana; Charles H Perkins Male 0 Indiana.

In the 1880 U.S. Census, James, Elizabeth, and their three children were living in Jefferson Township, Carroll, Indiana, [6]: James Perkins Self Male 42 New York; Elizabeth Perkins Wife Female 42 Ohio; Mary E. Perkins Daughter Female 16 Indiana; Josephine Perkins Daughter ;Female 14 Indiana; Charles Perkins Son Male 10 Indiana, United States.
