1704 Virginia Rent Rolls lists 4 Perkins' (see below; assume William is the William Perkins in Parish of St. Peters and St. Pauls)
Perkins Charles James City County 1704
Perkins John Parish of St. Peters and St. Paul, 1704
Perkins Wm Norfolk County, 1704
Perkins Wm Parish of St. Peters and St. Paul, 1704
William Perkins and his family can be found in the book Descendants of Nicholas Perkins of Virginia by William Hall, but any relationship of William to Nicholas has not been found. There are similar names passed down in both families and many times descendants of both lines live near each other. There is a Perkins DNA Project and early indications are that Nicholas Perkins, b. about 1647 in Charles City Co, d. 1712 Henrico Co, VA, & William Perkins of New Kent were of the same family. Their Haplogroup is R2. How they may connect or in what generation is not known.
Daughter Anne was baptised in St Peter Parish in 1699.

New Kent Co. 4 Jul 1702. Under James Neaves, Lt. is William Perkins.
Located in the 1704 quit rent rolls of New Kent Co VA with 305 acres.
The source of the early Perkins records is "The Vestry Book and Register of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent and James City Counties, VA 1684-1786, edited by C. G. Chamberlayne, 1937.
The first mention of William Perkins in the minutes of the Vestry meeting is on 30 Sep 1723; he was to be paid the value of 650 #'s of tobacco per year for keeping Elizabeth Johnson.
Also from the St. Peter's Parish Records:
Tom a negro belonging to Wm. Perkins died Xbr 28, 1718.
Sarah a negro belonging to Wm Perkins died Jany 4, 1718.
William was married to an Elizabeth, but her surname is unknown. It appears as Wells in some online data.
From Perkins researcher Karleene at <karly@pioneer.net>: A William Perkins in England, early 1600s, married an Elizabeth who "might have been a Wells", which is where the person trying to make leaps of faith must have gotten this. Another Wm. Jordan Perkins married an Elizabeth Wells in Feb 1846.
[In the Parish Records from St. Peter's, there is a single entry for a Wells family: Delilah Wells departed this Life Augt ye 4th, 1715.]
William's son William is referred to in the Vestry records as William Perkins Junr up until 1736, after which time there is no longer a designation. Presumably the elder Perkins was deceased by that date.
NOTE: There is an entry in the Charles Parish register (York County, Virginia which is just east of New Kent County) that a William Perkins was born to "Henry and Elizabeth Perkins" on 11/10/1674. It is quite possible his father (William Henry Perkins went by the name of Henry) and this is the birth record of this William Perkins on this WikiTree profile - Jim Miller. PS: My Miller family (who had several marriage ties to the Perkins family) had properties in York County and New Kent County in the mid to late 1600's into the 1700's.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
Perkins-3068 and Perkins-2028 appear to represent the same person because: I realize the dates are different but of course one is based on the Descendants of Nicholas Perkins of Virginia and the other I'm not sure. The one that has dates that aren't from Descendants of Nicholas Perkins of Virginia is married to the mother of the children of the one that is. So I'm assuming that these are meant to be the same person, otherwise some detaching needs to happen?
