Biography

Dorcas Perkins was born in Maryland, Massachusetts or Virginia some time between 1768-1776, the daughter of Elisha Perkins and Jane Manning. The family moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky, where she married Moses Dawson July 31, 1798. Her husband was a well-known entrepreneur and publisher, and the family lived in several towns in Ohio, eventually in the County of Vinton, where she died in 1859,
