Biography

Elsie Permann was born on 7 May 1907 in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. Her parents were John Permann Sr. (1864-1935) and Klara Heib (1864-1925)[1] and they were both born in Russia and were of German ancestry.

In April 1910, two-year-old Elsie was living with her parents and three older siblings in the town of Tripp in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. Her father John was a cattle stock buyer. They lived in a house they owned freely.[2]

In 1925, eighteen-year-old Elsie was living in Hutchinson County, South Dakota. She belonged to the Reformed Church.[3]
