Biography

Isadore Perrault was born in 1834 pursuant to his headstone (birthdates of 4 July, 1843 or July, 1836 were given on the 1901 and 1911 Censuses, respectively, so this could be wrong), in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Pierre and Anne, aka Peter and Nancy, Perrault.

Isidore Perrault married Sophie Broassard on 21 January, 1861, at Pomquette, Sydney, Nova Scotia[1][2].

Isidore and Sophie Perrault had 11 children:

  • Cyril, born 20 November, 1861;
  • Annie, born 11 December, 1862;
  • Sarah Jane, born 2 December, 1864;
  • Margaret A. (Perrault-105), born 7 September, 1866;
  • Peter (Perrault-787), born 29 September, 1868;
  • Catherine Malvina (Perrault-781), and her twin
  • Sophie Elizabeth (Perrault-782), born 20 September, 1870;
  • John Henry (Perrault-786), born 15 September, 1872;
  • Rhuphina (Perrault-783), born 7 June, 1874;
  • Catherine (Perrault-784), born 6 May, 1877; and
  • Eliza (Perrault-785), born 8 April, 1879.

The 1881 Census recorded Azadore, Farmer, and Sophia Parrow (misindexed Garrow, but spelt "Parrow" on the Census), both 45, and their children Cyril, 19, Farmer, Annie, 18, Sarah, 15, Catherine, 14, Elizabeth, 12, Peter, 10, John, 8, Effie, 6, Catherine, 4, and Liza, 2, living at Heatherton, Antigonish, Nova Scotia[3]. Everyone in the household was born at Nova Scotia, Roman Catholic, and of French origin.

Isadore was widowed in 1890.

The 1891 Census recorded Isidore Perrow, 53, Widowed, Farmer, living at Heatherton, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, with his children Cyril, 29 and his wife Anne, 23, Annie, 28, Umbrella Factory - Home, Peter, 21, House Carpenter, John H., 19, Effie, 17, Cassie, 15, and Eliza, 13[4].

Asadore Parro, 55, Labourer, son of Peter and Nancy, married Mary Victoire Pitts, 20, Domestic, daughter of Joseph and Mary, on 5 February, 1894, at Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., Rev. W. ? Fitzpatrick officiating[[4]]. It was the first marriage for Mary and the second for Isadore.

Isadore and Mary Perro had 8 children:

  • Laura Mary (Perro-26), born 4 September, 1895;
  • Joseph(Perro-28), born 18 July, 1896;
  • Sophie J. (Perro-27), born 17 July, 1900;
  • Annie May (Perro-25), born May, 1901;
  • Grace, born October, 1903;
  • Michael (Perro-30), born September, 1905;
  • Catherine (Perro-31), born ca. 1912; and
  • Margaret (Perro-32), born ca. 1915.

The 1901 Census of Canada recorded Isadore Parro (mis-indexed Pano), 57, born 4 July, 1843, Farmer, and Mary, 25, born 11 Oct, 1875, and their children Mary, 5, born 4 Sept, 1895, Joseph, 4, born 18 July, 1896, and Sophie, 7 mos., born 17 July, 1900, living at Tracadie, Antigonish, Nova Scotia[5].

The 1911 Census recorded Isadore Parre, 74, born July, 1836, Farmer, and Marry, 34, born January 1876, and their children Laurie, 15, born Sept, 1895, Joseph, 13, born Aug, 1897, Sophia, 11, born Aug 1899, Nancy, 9, born May, 1901, Grace, 7, born Oct, 1903, and Michael 5, born Sep, 1905, living in household 150 at Tracadie, Antigonish, Nova Scotia[6].

Isidore Pero, 80, Farmer, of New France, died on 11 February, 1916, at Tracadie, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, of Asthma, and was buried in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery in Merland, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he shares a headstone with wife Mary[7][8]. The inscription on the headstone indicates he was born in 1834.
