Biography

Drapeau identifiant les profils du Canada, Nouvelle-France
Paul Perrault a vécu
au Canada, Nouvelle-France.

Paul Perrot was born in 1676 at Repentigny, the son of Paul (Tanguay gives the family name as Perrot) and Marie Chrétien. He was baptised on 28 October at Pointe-aux-Trembles[1][2].

Recensement 1681 Census SEIGNEURIE DE REPENTIGNY

On 6 November 1702 in Sainte-Famille, Île d'Orléans, Paul Perot married Marie Montambaut[5], and they had four known children - Marie Josephe, Paul, Jacques and Marie Madeleine, all of whom married, and probably two others who died young.

Notaire Louis Chambalon Vol XIX pg 453[4][7]

No record for Paul's death has yet been found. He died between 7 September 1713 when he made a sale of land to his brother-in-law Jacques Montanbault, and 11 February 1714 when his wife wrote a power of attorney and signs it as his widow. (see above)

Notes

Tanguay lists two sons of Paul Perrot dit Lagorce and Marie Chrétien with similar names:

Pierre-Paul born in 1674
Paul born in 1676

both in Repentigny.

Tanguay has Pierre-Paul as the one who marries Marie Montambault in 1702, and gives a wife Madeleine l'Eveille to Paul, but without any further details.

The Drouin collection shows that both were baptised as Paul, the elder on 30 October 1674 and the younger on 28 October 1676, both in Pointe-aux-Trembles (Repentigny parish records start in 1674, but no priest was resident yet).

At the 1681 census both Pierre and Paul are listed, aged seven and five respectively[8]. The family are still in Repentigny.

There is a record for the burial of Pierre aged nine, son of Paul Perrot Lagorce and Marie Chrestien, at Repentigny from January 1684[9].

The father of Marie Montambault was Michel Montambault dit Leveille, which would explain the confusion in Tanguay.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Paul by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Paul:
