Research Notes

Notations on François Perron:
"Francois Peron was the owner of the sailing ship "Le Taureau" (The Bull) that brought men and goods to New France. Though he never married, he had a son, Daniel (1639). From a notarial contract it is learned that Francois "paid off" the mother with the sum of L500 and presumably raised his son. Daniel came to the New France (Quebec) as his father's agent in the shipping business. So as to settle in Quebec he had to renounce Calvinism and adopt the Roman Catholic faith (6 Dec 1663 at Notre Dame de Quebec) and on 26 Feb 1664 he married Louise Gargattine at Chateau Richer. Louise was a "King's Daughter" (these were girls sponsored by Louis XIV to come to New France to marry settlers.)”…. Excerpted
