John Franklin Perry was born on August 31, 1918 in Caro, Michigan. He was the fourth child and second son of [Perry-5863|Bert Barnum Perry]] and Edith May Remmington.
Early Life
John, his parents, and his older siblings Retta Jessie and LJ grew up in a rented house in Elmwood Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. Although the house was rented, his father farmed his own land.[1]
By 1930 John's family had moved to 502 Frank Street in Caro. His father worked on a farm as a laborer to pay the $15 per month of renting the space. His sister Jessie was working as a saleswoman in a 5 & 10 cent store. Older siblings Loretta and LJ had moved out and started their own families in Flint and Pontiac, respectively. [2]
By the age of 21, John had moved out and was living with and working for the family of William Brinkman in Akron Township as a hired hand. He made $360 in monthly wages.[3]
Marriage
John was 25 when he was marreid to Helen Louise Maule, 21, on September 24, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan and they had the following children:

John and my dad's father was Bert B. Perry. I see it on a few trees as Barnum for a middle name but have never seen it documented that way and I personally never knew it to be anything other than the initial B like my dad's is.
Also a California divorce in 1983????? I think it was probably a Michigan divorce and John was never called Johnny. I think they divorced before 1983.
