Thomas and Elizabeth Deyo married about 1840. They had at least nine children: Leonard, Clark Moses, Prudence Ann, Malvina, Elnora, Orcelia, Amanda, Cornelia and Rachel . The family lived in New York state until sometime after the 1860 Census.[2][3][4]Elizabeth appears to have died prior to 1863.
On 21 April 1863, Thomas and Hannah Minerva (Smith) Deyo married at Welland, Niagara, Ontario, Canada.[5] They may have been on their way from New York to Michigan as they lived in Vernon Township, Shiawassee, Michigan in 1870 and 1880 where Thomas appears on the United States Poplulation and Agricultural Censuses.[6][7][8][9] Thomas and Hannah had two children: Guy and Nora.
In 1875 Thomas had a 71 acre farm in Section 30 of Vernon Township on the Shiawassee River.
[10]
Thomas died 28 June 1883 in Vernon Township, Shiawassee, Michigan and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, Shiawassee, Michigan.[1][11]
Research Notes
It is likely Thomas' first wife Elizabeth Deyo and second Hannah (Smith) Deyo were related in some way. Possibly sisters-in-law. It is not clear who Hannah's first husband was or if they had children.
Thomas and Elizabeth's daughter Malvina is on the 1860 Census, but not the 1870. The two youngest daughters (Cornelia and Rachel) also appear on the 1860 Census with the family, but not the 1870 and so far no additional information has been found for any of them.
