Biography

Amelia was born June 20, 1866, in Catalina, Trinity North, Newfoundland, Canada, to John and Harriet Perry. ^[1]

She married widower James Oldford, November 16, 1888, also in Catalina, Newfoundland, Canada. ^[2] A Minnie Perry is listed as the witness. ^[3].

Amelia's Canada to the United States border crossing papers list a brother Josiah Perry as a departure contact. ^[4]

The 1930 US Federal Census states that Amelia was 22 when she married, which helps validate that she is the Amelia Perry who was born to John and Harriet in 1866. ^[5] There was an Amelia Julina Perry who was born to Issac and Susannah Perry in Catalina, however, she was born in 1869, which would have made her 19 when she married James.

In the Oldford family bible belonging to Linda May Small, there is a photograph (see photo section) of Amelia's last birthday, with a note indicating she died at the age of 89 in October 1955.
