George A. Perry, born 1 September 1844, raised red hunting dogs and delivered moonshine, so his son told. He was reputed to be from "Up North" probably Michigan. He was gone for long stretches of time. His children had very few memories of him. His parents were Samuel L. Perry and Lucinda Flynn, both of New York, substantiated by a DNA match between his only granddaughter and a distant cousin who share 7th great grandparents.
He married Jerusha Belle Locke (as George A.) in about 1895 in Tennessee. They had five children,
Henry and Elmo lived long lives. Jerusha had him declared dead in 1909 in Detroit, as he deserted her after the birth of her last child.
Unbeknownst to all, but suspected, George was living a double life. George A. and George W. shared the same parents, but he used various birth dates and was not too concerned about how many women he was married to.
George Washington Perry married Emily “Annie” Anna Lee (1852-1882) 8 June 1874 in Orion, Oakland, Michigan. They had a son, Howard Lee15 October 1876, in Clifford, Oakland, Michigan. Annie died there in 1882. Howard and George lived together until his death.
About the same time he married Jerusha, he married Phoebe Hubble Cheerman (37) 8 January 1895 in Lapeer, Lapeer, Michigan. They divorced in 1899.
Before the divorce was final, he married Lillian B. Jackson Sloan in 1898 in Michigan under the name George W. Perry. He was not divorced from Jerusha or Phoebe as yet.
He died 26 September 1929 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan as George W. Perry.
