In 1920, Richard Joseph Peters, aged 4 months, lived with his parents Noah and Jessie Peters in Detroit, Michigan. Noah, age 26 was a carpenter. Jessie, his mother, age 24, was born in Ontario, Canada, and immigrated to the United States in 1916. They also had an older son, Francis, age 1 year and 6 months. [4]
By 1930, Francis Peters parents had divorced, leaving Francis and his two brothers, Richard and James, as orphans at the St Francis Home for Orphan Boys in Detroit, Michigan. [5]By 1940, the three boys had been reunited with their mother Jessie and her second husband William Moore. [6]
Richard registered for the World War II draft on 16 Oct 1940. His mother Jessie Peters was listed as the next of kin. [1]
On 6 Feb 1943, Richard married Virginia Hyde in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. Richards parents, Noah Peters and Jessie Marr, were listed on the marriage certificate. [7]
Richard passed away on 1 Nov 1993 in Hillsborough, Florida. [2][3]. He was interred on 10 Nov 1993 in the Florida National Cemetery. He was listed as Sgt US Army Air Forces WW II. [8]
