Mansfield D Peters was born free in November 1827 in Amherst, Virginia, his mother, Turza, was 22. He married Martha Ellen Payne on April 29, 1847[1], in Lawrence, Ohio. They had 13 children in 23 years. He died on September 9, 1904, having lived a long life of 76 years, and was buried in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Proctorville, Ohio.[2]
