Johan was born about July 1850 in Denmark and died 1939 on the Farm Uitkyk, Letaba, Transvaal, South Africa.
He fought with the Boer Commandos during the Anglo-Boer War and was captured on the 27th February 1900 near his farm Uitkyk, Zoutpansberg and was transported as a POW to Trichinopoly POW camp (Ceylon), India and returned to South Africa on 7th September 1902.
