Katharine (Catherine, Treinkie, Trienckia, Katy, Frankie) was born near Schraalenburgh, New Jersey, the daughter of Nicholas Peterson and Annatje Demarest. Loyalists, the family moved behind British lines in New York City by 1778. In 1783 they were transported in a British ship to Lower Canada and in the spring of 1784 they settled in Adolphustown Township, Upper Canada.
In 1783 or 1784 Katharine married Abraham Woodcock (1760-1835) of Fredericksburgh, Upper Canada (Ontario), next door to Adolphustown. They had 12 children, 1784-1811.
In 1793 she acquired land as the daughter of a United Empire Loyalist.
She was Treinkia or Katy or Frankia in Langhorne's records of her children's baptisms, which were in Fredericksburgh (Lennox County). The births were probably in Portland Township, Frontenac County.
Marriage abt 1783 to Abraham Woodcock, UE. Children
There have been claims that Treinka is a Mohawk Indian. Fay Doyle (nee Grindall) wrote: Mygrandmother, Mary Ann Woodcock lived to age 95. She talked of her father's mother Frankia who was a full blood Indian from the Iroquois Nation.
The 12 children whose profiles are listed above are the 12 in "Notes" above. Four of them are not in the 1819 census: Peter, Christopher, Elishia, and Mary had left home or are possibly in the census under the names Edward, Hitty, Caty, and Patty. A Pedigree Resource File at familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/GWM1-KBC also lists 12 children but these include two named Peter (one presumably died in infancy) and it omits, of the 12 profiled, Hannah and Elishia, and like the profiles it omits Edward, Hitty, Caty and Patty. Of the five names only in the PRF or the census,
