Will like many young men in the NC mountains wanted to satisfy his pioneer spirit and thus moved westward to settle in eastern Oregon around the turn of the 19th century--His brother Charles did same thing and wanted to grow apples--Will was an attorney and established a practice in Pendleton in 1906--His younger sister, Mary Loretta, stayed in Yancey County, NC and married her 2nd cousin, and with her husband, Sid stayed in her childhood home and 90 acres near Jack's Creek near Daybook--Her middle daughter, Evelyn, was my mother.
