Biography

Ernest "Ernie" Munce Peterson of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 18 (2003) at the Owatonna Hospital. He was 90. Ernest Peterson was born July 6, 1912 in Steele Corners, son of Willliam Peterson and Susan Minter. On August 26, 1940, he married Blanche Bogues in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mr. Peterson served in the National Guard prior to his entry into the US Army in March 1944. He served until December 1945. Mr. Peterson and his wife owned and operated the West Concord Hotel from 1963-75. They then moved to Owatonna. Throughout his life, Mr. Peterson was a carpenter, working in genera construction. He also farmed. Mr. Peterson enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Peterson enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. Ernest Peterson is survived by two sons, ( ) of West Concord, ( ) of Owatonna; a daughter,( ) of Owatonna; a brother Lawrence (and Claire) Peterson of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and three brothers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The Rev. Louisa Fure will officiate. Burial will be at Owatonna Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, and an hour before the service Monday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.^[1]
