Biography

Arcangela (Angeline) Petranella Paternostro was the daughter of Francesco Paolo Petranella and Biagia Riina. She was born in Corleone on 8 May 1866. When Arcangela Petranella was 17 years old, she left Corleone, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, departing from the Port of Palermo, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, Italia on the ship Archimede. The captain of the ship was Domenico Viola. She arrived on October 11, 1883 in America at Castle Garden, in the Port of New York, along with her sister Maria Concetta Petranella was 20 years old and her brother Luca Petranella who was 32 years old and his friend Mike Pomaro. They then traveled south by steamer and railway to Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. Their last name was spelt as Petronella on the ship's manifest. She married Felipe Paternostro in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas on 8 January 1897. She had returned to Sicilia for a while and returned back to America on 18 October 1919. She died in her home at 817 Ann Street in Dallas, Texas on 13 March 1931 at 9:15pm. Her cause of death was attributed to cardiac failure, with secondary causes of cardio-renal failure. She was 63 years, 10 months and 5 days old at the time of her death.
