Biography

According to Burke's COMMONERS (1832), Vol. 3, p. 264, Anne Canning, daughter of Francis Canning and Mary Petre, was born in 1748. "Who Were the Nuns?" gives her birthdate as 1749.

Mary Petre was the daughter of John Petre of Fidlers, co. Essex, by his wife Anne Throckmorton, daughter of Sir Robert Throckmorton, Bart., of Weston, co. Warwick.
