Birth and Origins

Isobell Petrie was possibly the daughter of of Joseph Petrie and Ann Gardyne (and sister of David Petrie). She was born 17 Jun 1795 at Montrose, Forfarshire, Scotland. (Cf. with 1841, 1851 & 1861 Censuses estimate Isobell's birth as c. 1796)

Marriage and Family

Isobell Petrie married Alexander Alexander (son of Alexander Alexander and Elizabeth Petrie) on 10 Nov 1811 at Montrose, Angus, Scotland^[1]

They had children:

In the 1841 Census, Alexander Alexander (51) lived at North Street, Montrose, Forfarshire with his wife, Isobella (45) and their children Elizabeth Alexander (25), Charles Alexander (14), James Alexander (9), Alexena Alexander (6) and Isobella Alexander (3). ^[5]

Three of Alexander & Isobella's children may have been living nearby with his newly widowed mother, Elizabethe (Petrie) Alexander. As In the 1841 Census, Elizabeth (Petrie) Alexander (80,) lived at North Street (north side) (Montrose), Forfarshire with William Alexander (25, CL), John Alexander (20, Carpenter's Apprentice) and Julia Alexander (10, Linen H L W).^[6]

In the 1851 Census, Alexander Alexander (61, Yarn Sorter Linen) lived at North Street (Montrose), Forfarshire with his wife, Isobella (55) and their children Elizabeth Alexander (35, Cloth Lapper Linen), Alexina Alexander (16, at home) and Isobela Alexander (12, scholar). ^[7]

In the 1861 Census, Alexander Alexander (71, Linen Factory Overseer) lived at North Street, Montrose (Burgh), Forfarshire with his wife, Isobella (65) and their daughter, Elizabeth Alexander (45, Linen Factory Worker). ^[8]

Her husband, Alexander Alexander, died 1867

In the 1871 Census, Isabella Alexander (75) lived at Wellington Street, Montrose, Forfarshire, with her daughter, Elizabeth Alexander (55, Factory Worker). ^[9]

Death

Isobell (Isobella) (Petrie) Alexander died sometime after 1871
