Biography

Anna Beata was born in Björsäter parish 28 August 1838 to the crofter Petter Pettersson Holm in Haga and his wife Fredrika Jonsdotter.[1][2] Her father died in 1843.[3] In 1849 Fredrika Jonsdotter married the widower Olof Olofsson in Sandbäcken in Björkäng parish.[4] From there Anna Beata Pettersdotter moved out in 1857 to serve in Gastorp.[5][6]

As was usual for young people she moved about once a year, to different farm jobs. She stayed within the parish of Björkäng, spending most time at Järneberg, which seems to have been a big farm with many employees - Anna Beata Pettersdotter appears several times on the pages for Jerneberg. She had a daughter, Augusta Fredrika, out of wedlock in 1865.[7] They lived for a while in Kårtorp.[8] She married Carl Lindorff on 27 March 1869 (first banns were read 7 February). She moved to Kilen in Töreboda, where he was staying at the time.[9]

In 1870 the family moved to Gävle.[10] The family may not have "checked out" properly from Sweden, because it says in the household record that they are "resident in America since 1882" - for Carl Lindorff "since 1881" - instead of an exact emigration date (which there usually is).[11]

Her last name at birth would have been Pehrsdotter. You can remove the other last names at birth and move Holm in “other last name.” It is producing an error. Thank you!

Carl and Anna living in Minneapolis fits pretty well with the story of Augusta Fredrika running off to Montana, where the parents didn't go.

I think this could be her: "Minnesota Death Records, 1866-1916," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XP8V-BX7 : 4 December 2014), Anna Lindorff, 23 Jun 1906; citing Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, CN 641, Public Health Center, St. Paul; FHL microfilm 1,499,035.

- even though she made herself a year younger in the United States. There is also this:

"Minnesota State Census, 1905," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SP39-BRC : 15 November 2014), Anna Lindorf, Minneapolis, Ward Number: 07, Hennepin, Minnesota; citing p. 319, line 17, State Library and Records Service, St.Paul; FHL microfilm 928,785.

- no image and no list of family members, but you can find Carl there by searching for him.
