Biography

Jane's birth and death years are not known so she is assumed to have been at least 21 when she married in 1811. DNA matches suggest she is the brother of the John Pettigrew as shown and another brother.

1811: Marriage record to William Kingsmill at Glennan, Parish of Donagh in County Monaghan mentions Drumhillery Seceding Congregation, County Armagh and the marriage minister was Mr John McCurdy with the marriage certified by James Smyth, an Elder.[1]

Drumhillery is in Tynan parish just over the border in County Armagh and William Kingsmill lived in Cavanagarvan in Tynan Parish.

Research Notes

DNA matches suggests Jane may be related to James Pettigrew with an Ancestry Tree showing him born in Armagh to a George Pettigrew, and also to George Pettigrew

See Pettigrews/crews of County Armagh information page

In 1859, a Reverend George Pettigrew had land in Donagh Parish (where Jane married) in County Monaghan.[2] He was born in County Down in the vicinity of Boardmills and died 1913 aged 93, and is not thought to be a relation of Jane's own Pettigrews in County Armagh.
