Biography

Sarah was born on Aug 28, 1754. She was the daughter of John Wingfield and Frances Buck. She passed away in 1816.

5 Sep 1789, Wilkes Co., GA - John, Chas. and Stephen Pettus, sons of Stephen Pettus late of Hanover Co., VA, dec'd. Garland Wingfield appointed guardian. John Wingfield, security. H. Mounger, witness. [1]

10 Mar 1791, Wilkes Co., GA - Daughter Sarah is named in the will of her father, John Wingfield. [2]

1798, Wilkes Co., GA - Sarah Pettus was a distributee in the estate returns for her father, John Wingfield. [3]

27 Aug 1807, Wilkes Co., GA - Marriage of Sarah Pettus and William Daniel. [4] There is an Ancestry database which shows this marriage in Wilkinson Co., GA, but this database has no link to an original record. Many years ago, Ancestry created a Georgia marriage database and when they inputted the data for their index, they mistakenly listed marriages occurring in Wilkinson Co., GA, when they actually occurred in Wilkes Co., GA [5]

Pettus-293 and Wingfield-411 appear to represent the same person because: This is actually Sarah (née Wingfield). She was first married to Stephen Pettus and then to William Daniel. Her will, as Sarah Daniel, names her Pettus children.
