Birth
Henderson was born in 1832. Henderson Petty was a farmer. His home in 1870 was in District 13, Carroll, Tennessee. He. married Nancy A. Williams on Dec. 27, 1865 in Carroll County, Tennessee. According to the 1850 US Federal Census he had 7 other brothers and sisters. He is buried in Blair Grave Yard.

- 1850 Census. James who was a farmer was living at home with his spouse Vicy along with eight of their children in Carroll County, part of Carroll Tennessee. James was 37 and born in NC; Vicy was 38 and also born in NC. All of the children were born in TN. Henderson C was 18; Susanah E. was 16; Pinkney J. was 14; Mary J. was 12; Martha H. was 10; Morning R. was 6; Delila A. was 2 and Lidy H. was 2 (probably twins).[1]
