Census

1900 Census. John Petty b. 1850 in Mexico was living at home with his spouse, Dafney b. 1844 in Arkansas, along with eight of their children and two of their grandchildren in Smith, Texas. Dafney was 56 and John was 50. This shows that her mother was born in Georgia (which is correct) and it has no father listed. It shows though that she had 13 children. This record also shows that they had been married for 30 years. John's parents were both born in Mexico and his immigration was 1865. They were living next door to their son, Jim. The children living with them were all born in Texas and were as follows:
Dollie Petty age 25 b. in TX;
Zumie Petty age 20 b. in TX;
Toby Petty age 19 b. in TX;
Tommy Petty age 17 b. in TX;
Frankey Petty age 16 b. in TX;
Mollie Petty age 11 b. in TX;
Patsy Petty age 8 b. in TX and;
Emoline (Petty) Caraway age 7 b. in TX;
Rafel Guthrey, grandson, less than one year old and;
Manuel Atkin, grandson, less and one year old.[1]

Research Notes
