Nikolaus Pevsner was born in Germany circa 1902.
Nikolaus left Germany after the Nazi takeover . 
His most celebrated accomplishment was the publishing of a 46 volume book, a study of English architecture, "The Buildings of England," which was the culmination of 25 years of work. In 1969, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. 
He passed away on August 18, 1983 in London.
