Biography

John Peyton was born on August 25, 1755 in Virginia to Robert and Ann (Guffey) Peyton. He married Margaret Hamilton in Tennessee on November 25, 1791, and they had close to a dozen children. John died on August 20, 1833, in Tennessee.

Robert1 Peyton (P Line); Robert Peyton was most likely the son of Valentine and Frances (Linton) Peyton; he was buried near Bledsoe's Lick 8 miles above, Gallatin, TN; he was born circa 1725; he married Ann Guffey; he died 5 Jun 1795, killed by Indians in a field of Mrs. Bledsoe's, near Bledsoe's Lick.
Ann Guffey; Ann was the sister of Henry Guffy of Va. and Ky. She was born circa 1725 Walker's Creek, Rockbridge Co., VA.

  • + 4. iii. Thomas Peyton (P-3), born between 1760 and 1770 VA; married Alia Gilbert.

Margaret Hamilton was born on 21 Apr 1768 VA. She died on 28 Oct 1812, Sumner Co., TN.

  • 6. ii. Robert Holmes Peyton; 'NEW YORK TIMES 09 OCT 1851" "An affray took place near Gallatin, Tenn., this morning, between Messrs. Mc Elrath and Robert P. Peyton, BROTHER TO HON. BAILIE PEYTON. Peyton struck McElrath with a cane, when the latter stabbed Peyton to the heart, causing instant death. Mc Elrath has been arrested; he was born 10 May 1792 Sumner Co., TN; he died 9 Oct 1851, nr. Gallatin, TN.
  • 7. iii. John Hamilton Peyton was born 5 Mar 1794 Sumner Co., TN; he died Dec 1813, near Talladega, AL.
  • 8. iv. William Randolph Peyton (P-14) was born Nov 1795 Sumner Co., TN; he died 20 Jul 1846.
