Biography

Richard was born in 1720. He was the son of Richard Peyton and Hannah Harris. He passed away in 1767. [1]

Richard was probably born at Cattespoole where the family lived at this time, we have no baptism for him as the family were non-comformist and did not attend the parish church.

Richard was only 11 years old when his father died in 1731 in 1738 he was apprenticed to Joseph Harris a fishmonger in London, his mothers maiden name was Harris and I suspect that Joseph was a relation of hers.

1738 Richard Peyton son of Richard Peyton late of Tardebigge gentleman, deceased to Joseph Harris citizen and fishmonger for 7 years.

Richard married Elizab Baker on 12 December 1747 in St Michael, Queenhithe, City of London, London, England.[2]

1750 Richard's uncle Joseph Peyton dies leaving a brief will Joseph Peyton the elder of London citizen and Fishmonger leaves everything to my nephew Richard Peyton of London citizen and fishmonger.

1767 Richard died and (according to note from the Soc Gen) was buried in a vault at St Magnus the Martyr, London Bridge. These vaults have since benn cleared the whereabouts of the contents is no longer known. His wife Elizabeth died in 1787 In her will proved 11 Jan 1788 she wished to be buried with Richard or if too costly with her mother and father and some of her children in Aldersgate churchyard.
