Walter was born in 1820. He was the son of George Peyton and Eliza Duncan.

He entered Trinity College Dublin on 1 July 1840, aged 18. B.A. 1847. Name on Alumni register - Walter Conyngham Peyton. ^[1]

He was ordained in 1847. He was the incumbent of Billis Parish, County Cavan for 45 years.

Walter married Margaret McCreight on 12 June 1856 at Mellifont, County Leitrim. ^[2]

June 13. at Melllfont Church, by the Rev. Francis Hall, brother-in-law of the bride, the Rev. Walter Cunnyngham Peyton, of Driney House, county of Leitrim, eldest son the late George Cunnyngham Hamilton Peyton. J.P., D.L., and incumbent of the the Billises, county of Cavan to Margaret, fourth daughter of the late Rev James M'Creight, Rector of Keady.

They had no children.

He died in 1896, aged 75. ^[3]

It is with deep regret that we announce the death on Tuesday last, of the Rev Walter C Peyton. M.A, of Billis Grange, Virginia, and Driney, county, Leitrim. The deceased was for over 45 years the respected incumbent of Billis Parish, Diocese of Kilmore.
