Nicholas was born at Querndon, county Buckingham, on the 21 July 1318 and died after 8 December 1360. [Inquisition was not held until 25 November 1361, but the Inquisitions may have been delayed because of the Plague epidemic that was sweeping England at the time.]

[Calendar Patent Rolls EIII] 8 May 1336 Westminster. Whereas the king by letters patent on the 25 November in the second year of his reign granted to Henry, bishop of Lincoln, the custody of the lands, late of Paulinus Peyvere, tenant in chief, with the marriage of the heir, and on the 7 February following, accepted a grant thereof by the bishop to Robert de Arderne; and now a petition has been presented to the king and council in the present Parliament on behalf of Thomas Wale and Nicholaa his wife, executrix of the will of the said Robert, setting forth that the latter by his will bequeath the custody to the said Nicholaa, then his wife, that Thomas Wakelyn, the co-executor, because certain lands, which Mary, late the wife of John Peyvre, held for life of the inheritance of Nicholas, son and heir of the said Paulinus, and which by virtue of the bequest should have remained to the petitioners, had been taken into the king's hands by the escheator after her death, made a fine of 200 marks in their name and his own for the custody of these lands, while Thomas Wale was on the king's service in Scotland and wholly ignorant of this, and that of this fine they have paid 50 marks, and the balance is now required of them and Thomas Wakelyn by summons of the Exchequer, and praying for a discharge of the demand for 150 marks: the king, having regard to the said grant and acceptance and on proof before him and the council of the truth of the statements in the petition, has pardoned the said sum.
