From FamilySearch:
George Fennig Jr. sympathized with those who struggled with their hands. He had a difficult struggle with poverty in his youth. When he was married to Barbara Bastian, he had nothing, not even the money with which to buy a cook stove. Only his hard work, thrift, incredible will and untiring perseverance enabled him to claim victory. However, he was successful owning at one time 460 acres of land which he divided among his children during his life.
Mr. Fennig was a man who stood well with his neighbors and made strong and lasting friendships. He possessed a broad understanding of things in general and was a very capable business man. He was appointed Superintendent of the Reservoir at Celina, Ohio and served in that capacity for four years. He was chosen for several years of service as Trustee of Wabash Township and discharged the duties imposed in a manner which inspired the confidence and esteem of even the most critical.
He died in 1895 and is buried in the Zion State Line Cemetery, Padua, Mercer, OH.
