Johanna taught with her brother Martin at Portland School in 1855. It was a two teacher school, with a roll of 90 pupils. [1]
She married Thomas Marshall of Geelong at the Catholic Church, Hamilton, on the 24 May 1866.
MARSHALL—PHELAN - On the 24th instant, at the Catholic Church, Hamilton, by the 'Rev. M. Farreley, Thomis, eldest son of W. C. Marshall, Geelong, to Joanna Augusta, third daughter of Thomas Phelan, Portland.
