Elizabeth Phelips (later referred to as Phillips) was the daughter of Richard Phelips of Whitchurch, Wiltshire. She was probably born at Montacute, Somersetshire, the ancestral home of the Phelips family. She was baptised on 7 Apr 1590 at Stoke sub Hamdon, Somersetshire, the daughter of Richard Phelips and his wife Elizabeth. On 6 Feb 1611 she was married, with a dowry of £1,000, to Henry Ludlow, of the Inner Temple, at St. Dunstan in the West, London. She was 20 and he was 22 at the time of their marriage. They had six sons and four daughters. She was buried on 6 Nov 1660.
