Mr. Hovey married, first, Abigail, daughter of Benjamin and Deborah (Temple) Phelps Nov. 11, 1736. She was born in Mansfield May 13, 1716. With her husband and other heirs of her uncle John Temple of Concord, Mass., she released to John Tullar of Mansfield, Conn., her interest in her said uncle's estate Sept. I, 1740. Mrs. Hovey died in IMansfield Feb. 22, 1741, at the age of twenty-four.
Thomas married, second, Abigail, daughter of Jedidiah Phelps of Lebanon Oct. 22, 1741. He died in Mansfield Sept. 9, 1749, at the age of forty-two. Mr. Hovey left no will, and his administrators charged in their account for the maintenance of "old m Hovey," who was probably his father, James Hovey, who died in 1760, at the age of eighty-six.
