Charles, son of Timothy Phelps of Marlboro VT was admitted to the bar of Windham County Court in 1807, immediately after which he took up residence and established a law office in Townshend VT. He married Eliza, a daughter of James and Mary Hall Houghton, of Guilford, July 21, 1814, and had six children. In 1841, his daughter, Fannie, married Alphonso Taft and moved with him to Cincinnati OH. Highly esteemed, having rendered many years of outstanding service to Vermont and Windham County, Charles and Eliza also moved to Cincinnati.[1]
They reportedly moved to Cincinnati in 1845, yet the 1850 Census, lists Charles and Eliza as residing in the Townshend VT household of their son James.[2]
Charles died in 1854.
