Biography

Dea. Joshua, b. 10 Oct., 1727, shipwright and farmer, &c. He m. 15 June, 1750, Elisabeth Alexander, b. in Georgetown, Me., 8 Sept. 1729. He lived with his father in what is now Bath, Me., and was in 1796, the first deacon of the Congregational church there. They had 8 ch. He was also a successful hunter, furnishing for the market water fowl and other game from the creeks and coves of the Sagadahock. He was a friend of education and missions. In his hunting excursions he carefully observed the Sabbath, not setting his traps Saturday evening. [1]

Joshua died in Bath August 27, 1821 in his 94th year. He was buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery,in Bath. His wife died there November 21, 1815.
