Notes

While most of the family history document appears to be accurate, several issues have been found:

1) The birth records for several of the children of David William Philip (born 1757) show that their mother is not Margaret Cruickshank. These children are John Philp (born 1793), William Philip (born 1796), and Jane Philip (born 1798). This is not surprising for David William Philip and Margaret Cruickshank were not married until April 17, 1799. The mother of these three children is listed as either Jean or Jane Kandoch. A marriage record for her and David William Philip has not been found, nor have death records for a Jane or Jean Philip (nee Kandoch). Thus it is not clear whether these three children are those of David William Philip or perhaps of a completely different David Philip. Both scotlandspeople.gov.uk and ancestry.com have been searched.

2) No birth records have been found for the child of David William Philip (born 1757) named Isabel Philip (born 1799). Both scotlandspeople.gov.uk and ancestry.com have been searched.

3) No birth records have been found for a David William Philip (born 1757 or thereabouts) with a father named William Philip. The only birth record for a David Philip in Morayshire of a suitable date has a different father named. Both scotlandspeople.gov.uk and ancestry.com have been searched.
