Frances Philips' marriage to William Croft, and her status as the mother of Thomas Croft, are tentative. There is a record of a wedding of William Croft and Frances Philips on 16 June 1817 in Bolton Abbey. Since William Croft was the same age as Frances, it is plausible that he was the William she married. The only way to confirm this would be to determine whether the bride and groom's parents are recorded on the original marriage record, but I cannot find it online.

Thomas Croft was christened on 16 September 1817; his parents are recorded as William and Frances. If these are the same people, then Frances would have been 6 months' pregnant on her wedding day.
