DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

Thanks for the below note. I checked the change log and that merge was done a while back. I removed the comment requesting the merge as it os now done.

Regarding "McFinlay-3 and McFinley-2 appear to represent the same person because: Similiar name, same father, same child. Both lines go back several generations to same people."

I concur, but I do not have sufficient privileges to change entries that far back. I only have a 1700s badge.

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles.

It looks like England (leaders Maria Maxwell and Doug Straiton) would be a good fit with contributions I glanced through. If you are interested in Scottish Clans led by Mmaria Maxwell is another suggestion.

When you join a project, add the project tag to your page to receive project activity updates.

Questions,? Just ask.!

Hi! I'm interested in tracing my family's history from England, Scotland, Canada, Germany, and Hungary. I grew up in Michigan but I now live in San Francisco.
