Anna Laurette Phillips Owen was born August 14, 1873 in Gonzales County, Texas to Andrew Pickins Phillips and Susan Gaines Long Jones Phillips. She was married to Meek Owen (1869-1931) on May 29, 1895 in Gonzales County, Texas. One of their 3 children was Dora Laurette Owen Rice (1901 – 1987). She is buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Yoakum, Lavaca County Texas, USA [1]
Anna was called “Aunt Ret” by her nieces and nephews. She played an important role in raising my father, William Clyde Hull, Sr. and his siblings after their mother passed away.[2]
A 1910 Yoakum Ward 1, Lavaca County, Texas census shows Anna (37 years named as Laurette living with her husband Meek Owen (40) and children Otto (13), Deborah(9) and Maris(6). [3]
Anna passed away on September 18, 1964 in Yoakum, Lavaca, Texas, United States.[4]
