Ross Edward Phillips listed his birth date on both his WWI and WWII Draft Reg. Cards as January 27, 1884. The WWII Draft Reg. Card in 1942 listed his place of birth as Pine Island, Minnesota.

The birth record for Ross Phillips b. January 27, 1884 at Pine Island, Goodhue Cnty, Minnesota lists his father as Frank Phillips and his mother as Maggie Glasby.

Ross ("Rossie") is listed as the son of Frank A. Phillips and his wife Maggie E. in the 1900 Census of Kalmar Twp, Olmsted Coutny, MN. Frank, age 45, and Maggie, age 35, had been married 21 years, and Rossie was age 16, b. January 1884.

In the 1905 Minnesota State Census, the Frank Phillips family was living in Ward 3, Rochester, Olmsted Cnty, Minnesota. Frank was age 49 and working as a mason; Margaret was age 39; and son Ross Ed Phillips was age 21, working as a mechanical laborer.

In the 1910 Census Ross Phillips, age "28," is living in Minnesota City, Winona Cnty, Minnesota, with his wife Kitty Eva, age 43, and Kitty's two sons: Harry Rowley age 16, and Bernard Rowley age 4.

The marriage record states that Ross Phillips of Rice Cnty, MN married Kitty Eva Rowley of Rice Cnty, MN on October 17, 1908. Ross Phillips signed a legal declaration as part of the marriage application stating that Kitty Eva Rowley had no living husband.

In 1918 on his WWI Draft Reg. Card, Ross Edward Phillips, age 34, listed his birth date as January 27, 1884 and his nearest relative as Kitty Phillips, living at his same address in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Cnty, Michigan. Ross was working for the Kalamazoo Parchment co. at the time.

In the 1940 Census, Ross E. Phillips, age 56, and his wife Eva K. Phillips, age 73, are listed in Rochester, Cascade Twp, Olmsted Cnty, MN. No occupation is listed for Ross or Eva K. They stated they had been living in the same house in 1935.

On his WWII Draft Reg. Card (1942) Ross Edward Phillips, age 58, listed his birth date as January 27, 1884 in Pine Island, Minnesota. He gave a Rochester, Olmsted Cnty, MN address, and listed his wife as "Mrs. R. E. Phillips." His occupation in 1942 was self-employed junk dealer, which business he operated out of his home address.

The Minnesota Death Index lists: Ross E. Phillips b. January 27, 1884, d. August 18, 1971 Olmsted Cnty, MN. His mother's maiden name is listed as "Glasbie."
