Biography

Sam Phillips ... Samuel Harrison Phillips was born on 14 May 1885 in Waynesville, North Carolina, the son of Merritt Rickman Phillips (1849-1938) and Mary M. Blanton Phillips (1849-1909). He was married to Ida Belle Woodring (1894-1974) on 4 August 1915 in Phoenix, AZ. They had two sons and four daughters. They lived briefly in Grove, SC around 1920, but lived in both Yavapai County, AZ and in the Phoenix, AZ area the rest of their lives. He was a farmer and ranch foreman. He died on 19 December 1969 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 84. He was interred at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. Burial is in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
